How to host a virtual movie night
A good movie night is more than pressing play: choosing the film, finding a time, reacting during the big scenes and arguing about the ending afterwards. Here's how to make it work online when everyone is somewhere else.

1. Pick the movie together
Post a few options in the group chat and vote. If tastes differ, give each night a genre and rotate. Under two hours works best on weeknights.
2. Set the time across time zones
Write the start time in everyone's local time. Open the room ten minutes early to sort out audio and connection issues.
3. Test the link first
Paste the video link into the room and play a few seconds before everyone arrives. Add subtitles now if you need them.
4. Manage the sound
Ask everyone on voice chat to wear headphones so the movie's audio doesn't loop into their microphone, and mute during quiet scenes.
5. Stay after the credits
Half the fun is the discussion afterwards. Keep the room open and queue up next week's movie.
